Michael
Schumacher won the final race of 2001 in style, taking victory
in the Japanese GP to topple the last of Alain Prost's records
still standing and become the all-time highest points scorer.
Juan Pablo Montoya challenged the German all the way, but
could not quite catch him and finished just 3.1 seconds
behind the Ferrari star. David Coulthard was third, securing
his second place in the Drivers' Championship, Mika Hakkinen
was fourth, Rubens Barrichello was fifth and Ralf Schumacher
sixth after a stop/go penalty and erratic race performance
